thumping guide on the road

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

I’ll be posting from San Francisco and, if I can, from Japan! The thumping guide was too awesome to be confined to a single city.

Thanks, confluxers, for joining the thumping team! I’ve been on the road since the event, but I’ll post thumps from the day when I can!

thumping guide event at Conflux City this Sunday

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

On Sunday, September 20th, as part of the Conflux City Festival, we’ll spread out over Manhattan’s East Village in search of the best thumping noises around Conflux Headquarters.

Duration: approx. 2.5 hours: 1:45pm – 4:15pm Sunday Sept. 20
* 1:45pm START under the scaffolding outside Conflux HQ (34 Stuyvesant St). Please bring a digital camera or phone that can record video with sound. Look for signs or t-shirts with the thumping fist stencil!
* 2:00pm Spread out around the neighborhood or further, in search of good thumping locations. Record the best ones you find.
* 3:45pm Gather at De Robertis Cafe (176 1st Av @ 11th St) to share videos, pastries, and coffee.

creative commons license allows remixing

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

I’ve added a Creative Commons Attribution License to all my thumping videos, which means you’re welcome to reuse them in any way you like as long as you give credit. If you contribute to the Thumping Guide, I encourage you to do the same, or at least use any of the other CC Licenses that allows remixing. If you post your video on flickr, add the license using their licensing menu; if you submit in a different way, let me know what license you’d like to use.

You can see all the videos with a remix license (right now, it’s all of them) by clicking the CC tag. I hope someone will make music, or a drum kit or sample set out of them!

Traveller’s note

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

Turns out that the average pole in Philadelphia isn’t nearly as resonant as New York poles. In case you were wondering.
